The museum comprises seven buildings, with KODE 1, 2, 3 and 4 – situated in the centre of Bergen – offering temporary exhibitions of art and design. The remaining three buildings are the homes of historic composers, located outside the city centre. Visitors can expect to experience the core values of the museum: the unified goal of collection, preservation, documentation, research and display of art. Two of the most esteemed collections include the Rasmus Meyer Collection and the Silver Treasure.
The museum is truly inclusive, offering an additional art museum for children called the Kunstlab. In 2014, KODE was named Museum of the Year by the Norwegian Museum Association for its effort to develop and clarify the museum’s role in society.
