The Frank Steyaert Gallery has established itself as a rare celebration of the visual artist’s work. It is housed in a truly unique architectural setting in the historic centre of Ghent; a modern space formed through the fusion of two 15th century houses, providing an elaborate backdrop for the exhibits.
Remaining true to Steyaert’s belief in presenting art objects in an artistic installation itself, the museum champions changing themes and relationships. Its collection comprises hundreds of modern and ancient ceramic works, with notable past exhibits by Yo Akiyama, Wouter Dam, Ken Eastman, Deirdre McLoughlin and Jochen Brandt. A combination of the gallery’s extensive ceramicist network and the admirable reputation Steyaert enjoyed as an artist himself has established the museum as one of the most important private ceramic collections in Europe.
