Founded in 1948 to advocate for and promote excellence in the applied arts, Contemporary Applied Arts (CAA) is a membership gallery that represents some 350 of the most talented and skilled fine craftsmen and women working in Britain today. Selected members are professionals rigorously chosen by a panel of their peers. Paramount to everything the gallery does is the act of making: everything is made by hand, by individuals. The activities of CAA include selling makers’ work, curating exhibitions, securing significant commissions for members, facilitating acquisitions by major public and private collections, and running meaningful education, outreach and public participation programmes.
