As a branch of the State Museum Württemberg in Stuttgart, the Ceramics Museum at the Ludwigsburg Residential Palace exhibits the most prestigious ceramic pieces from the state collection, displaying all genres of modern ceramics from the last 500 years. The focus of the museum is on European porcelain art. Meissen, Vienna and other large manufacturers of the 18th century are represented, while particular attention is, of course, paid to the Ludwigsburg manufacturer founded in 1758.
"Highlights of the museum include the magnificent vases of G. F. Riedel, and the majolica collection of Duke Carl Eugen, a selection of 120 plates and platters from the 16th century painted in bright colours. The museum also delves into the development of contemporary artistic ceramics in Europe from around 1950 to the present day.
The prices listed are for the museum only – entry to the palace costs extra."
