Total immersion in bulrush craft
3 days Max 9 people£420 per personHeld in the 14th century tithe barn where Felicity Irons stores the rush that grows near her land, this course introduces participants to the history and traditions of English bulrush and its harvest. Felicity shows off her rush knives and four rush cutting punts and explains some of her techniques including weaving, plaiting, knotting, chain pairing and chair seating. All participants begin by making a table mat, and then each person can choose what they would like to make. Having three days allows larger or more complicated pieces to be made. By the end of the course hats, bathmats, handbags and chair seats will be completed.
