Hemp weaving in an Alpine village
30 minutes Max 5 peopleFreeLearn about hemp weaving, the tradition that has existed in the small Alpine village of Champorcher since ancient times. Two weavers, two embroiderers and a seamstress work at the atelier today. During the tour, they will show you ancient wooden looms, handmade by local carpenters, and demonstrate how to use them to produce strong and durable textiles. You will also see how to transform these textiles into highly refined cloths, towels, curtains and more, by sewing and embroidering them by hand. If you are interested in trying your hand at the loom at the end of the tour, short workshops can be arranged in advance.
