Discover restoration crafts in the workshop

This one-hour experience begins with an introduction to the work of Maria and Michael Start, including the restoration work in their workshops. There is an opportunity to see the automata currently being restored and learn about the wide variety of techniques used. Maria and Michael will then introduce and demonstrate a selection of rare and impressive automata from the last 200 years, finishing with a tour of House of Automata’s collection which includes singing birds, dancing dolls, lifelike animals and living dioramas. This tour is by appointment only and it may not always be possible during busy workshop periods. The tour is priced at 10 pounds for children and 20 pounds for adults.
