Get hands-on with clay

7 non consecutive days Max 5 people£600 per person

Master ceramicist Daniel Reynolds takes you into his London studio to show you the art of hand building in clay. During the course, suitable for beginners and those with some previous experience, Daniel will demonstrate how to build a pot using the long established coil building method and other centuries-old techniques. He may also introduce you to abstract ceramic sculpture including wall reliefs. Students will be asked to make preliminary sketches as a guide to the finished pieces they are trying to create. Drawing materials as well as clay, glaze and firing facilities will be all provided. The course lasts for seven non consecutive days. After the first five days there is an interval of two weeks in order to allow the work to dry and be bisque fired. The course then resumes for two days for glazing and finishing. It runs from 10am to 6pm with a one hour lunch break, during the spring/summer quarter. Students will take home the finished results together with their preliminary drawings.
