Introduction to marble craftmanship

2 hours 2–5 people70 euros per person

In the scenic village of Pyrgos, on the island of Tinos, Petros Marmarinos invites visitors to discover the art of marble. The Greek cultural tradition is deeply rooted in the Cycladic island, making it the best place to experience the craft. In this course, Petros presents the history of marble, how it has influenced the population of Tinos and introduces the renowned Tinians sculptors. Participants gain valuable insight into the ancient tradition. The second part of the class is dedicated to practice, learning how to use the various tools. Each student will have the opportunity to carve their initials or a simple design on a small slab of marble; a nice souvenir of the workshop to take away.
