Insight into Latgalian leatherworking traditions

From 1,5 hours 4-20 peopleFrom 5 euros

At the workshop Apkalnmājas, you will have a chance to listen and learn about the region of Latgale – their traditions, values and customs – and the craft of a saddler, which is closely related and influenced by all these factors. Every workshop is very personal, depending on the wishes of visitors. Whether you want to learn the very basics of leatherwork and create a small souvenir – like a leather key-charm – or be guided by the craftsmen in making something more complicated – like a retro-style pouch. Whatever you choose, everybody will leave the workshop with a better understanding of the leather as a material, and this ancient craft.
