A guided tour of Sunny Birch Bark Museum

Free

The Sunny Birch Bark Museum was founded in 2019 by the artisan Sergei Korotchenya, one of the leading birch bark weavers in Russia. It is the first and only museum of this ancient Russian craft in the Urals region, where it originally emerged back in the 17th century. Sergei himself is the host here, and his studio is located next door. The tour includes a little demonstration at the artisan’s workshop. At the heart of the collection that boasts more than 150 items are Korotchenya’s own works - caskets, dishes, breadbins, sugar bowls. On display there are also works by other artisans from the region, including hand painted historical pieces made more than 100 years ago.
