Decorate an Athenian piece of pottery

2 hours Max 8 people68 euros per person

The well-known ancient black and red-figured Athenian vases were hand painted with fine clay slips and the colours emerged during a sophisticated three-stage firing process involving successive phases of firing in an oxidizing and reduction kiln. Join the team that recovered and revived the ancient craft to produce your unique Athenian souvenir. Select a ready-made, unfired clay pinax (ancient name for a tablet), prepare the surface (smoothing and polishing) and select among different motifs. Afterwards, you will paint side A following the black-figure style with incisions and added pigments and side B according to the red-figure style. The tablet will be fired, safely packaged, and shipped to the participants.
