The photograph depicts the Japanese National Living Treasure Sonoko Sasaki working at her atelier. Sasaki is a master of tsumugi textiles, one of the most prized materials for Kimonos. Tsumugi textiles are woven using hand-spun silk that is dyed with a series of patterns and handwoven on a jibata loom.
