Duccio Mazzanti defines the featherwork piece Plumae as a creature, not an object. It stands on its own two legs and wanders around the world, curiously picking beauty from each of the four elements of the world: air with its feathers from the sky, earth for a moss carpet to support every step of the journey, fire brightening life with its warm colours and water with its hues of blues and underwater corals. Plumae becomes their amusing sum, the Quintessence, the fifth element of the world.
