Naama Haneman

Metalworker

Silversmith Naama Haneman graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem in 2012 and went on to study at the Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture & Design (CASS) in London, where she received her Master’s degree with distinction. For Naama, silversmithing provides the ability to communicate emotions, perceptions and thoughts. Her works embody a constant dialogue between the external and the internal, between the seen and unseen. Naama's works have been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world and have won her awards including the Loewe Prize finalist in 2020.

Story

Naama believes that creating in metal is equal to creating in clay; she sees metal as a flexible, soft material that listens to her hands. By using a few basic tools and the heat from a flame, the artisan can control the metal and bend it to her wishes. “I sculpt it in response to the natural flow of my emotions, controlling the forms through the beat and flow of my hammer, which enables me to devote myself completely to the vessels.”
