The Light Tropics paravent represents a mask inspired by an indigenous people called the Caduvei who live in the Brazilian jungle. In the late 19th century, the Italian painter and traveller Guido Boggiani portrayed the Caduvei women with their outstanding body and face paintings made with urucù pasta. Hillsideout stylised these portraits using colourful elements like burnt Murano glass and naturally coloured woods from Brazil to emphasise their approach to wildlife.
