For more than 30 years, Jean-Pascal Lheureux has been working with wood, navigating between cabinetry and wood sculpting. Inspired by fossils and shells polished and patinated by the sea waves, Jean-Pascal creates sculptures and contemporary furniture, working mainly in ash wood. In his work, it is the grain of the wood that first catches the eye, rather than its colour, which disappears under the torch, patina or lacquer: so much so that, at first glance, certain pieces seem to be made of ceramic. The rigour and sensitivity of his forms inspired by nature align with the nobility of living material.
