This small honeycomb vase is a collaboration between Tomáš Libertíny and a colony of bees. The mould was placed inside the beehive, and they set about making their honeycomb around the form. Using the “lost wax casting” method, the fragile wax sculpture was transformed into silver, losing some definition and details along the way. In the process, the original beeswax sculpture melted and completely burned away. The only memory of the natural artefact is the silver base which was later gold plated.
