With this collection of boxes, Andrea Walsh pours ideas pertaining to care, preciousness and value into her meticulous process. Carved by hand in plaster, remade in wax then cast in glass, each piece contains 12 coats of precious metal paste, fired in the kiln and burnished to bring out the interior’s quiet glow. The three glass vitrines suggest an object’s strength goes much deeper than a protective patina.
