The Spring Tide basket handcrafted from bamboo and coated in lacquer symbolises the energy of whirlpools that appear off the coast of Naruto City in Tokushima Prefecture. Spirit is an ongoing theme in Noboru Fujinuma’s work, which he understands by the delicacy and strength of bamboo. When his spirit unites with the spirit of the bamboo, it communicates something to those looking at the works.
