Alchymia is a workshop and creative atelier dedicated to decorative craftsmanship, founded by Lucio Doro in 1977. After undertaking studies at the Applied Art School in Milan, Lucio went on to explore the rich universe of Italian crafts from within various workshops. His work focused on painting techniques as well as an array of decorative techniques used in jewellery and furniture, such as enamel, lacquer and gilding.
His company Alchymia has defined itself through the creation of sophisticated furniture and interior decorations, with designs inspired by Italy’s rich cultural heritage, as well as the culture and art of Japan. Today, the workshop has developed into a family enterprise. Lucio’s daughter Giuditta Doro, who graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti Aldo Galli di Como in painting and sculpture, is now working with her father to enrich Alchymia’s expertise with her knowledge and skills.
The creations of Alchymia range from sofas and armchairs to tables and doors. All the furniture and interior decorations produced in the workshop can be created in dozens of finishes, each representing a certain historical culture and the various masterful expertise of the team at Alchymia. Lacquering is a notable and historic area of expertise of the workshop, followed by decoration in relief and gold foil finishing. Alchymia's work, shown internationally, aims to use ancient traditions to create contemporary designs.
