It was 1830 when Ernest Mauviel created a manufacturer in Villedieu les Poêles, historic city of copper since the 12th century, located in lower Normandy. Since then, the family company has gradually grown to become what is today: a prestigious manufacturer crafting cookware in copper, stainless steel and aluminium that is unsurpassed in quality and design, praised by professional chefs and household cooks worldwide.
Led today by Valérie Leguern Gilbert, seventh generation of the Mauviel family, the company has the same approach and values. Manufacturing remains a hundred percent French, as guaranteed by the stamp "made in Normandy" on every single product, and 70 artisans continue to handcraft and transmit their expertise from one generation to the next one. To ensure the availability of skilled craftsmen, a School of Trades has been created in partnership with the schools in the region, where apprentices can learn a wide range of techniques; including manual shaping, hammering, tin plating, and embossing.
