With a background in interior architecture and scenography, Vanessa Singenzia moved back to her hometown after studying and working in Paris in her early twenties. She enrolled at the University of Arts and Design in Cluj-Napoca in 2016 and opened her studio in 2017. A year spent in Spain, within the Erasmus programme, influenced her creative style as she adopted a more intimate approach towards her work so that form and function could coexist organically. She finds collaborative projects with artists or studios with whom she does not necessarily share the same craft. "New perspectives over a body of work are shared, and each of us learns something new throughout the process, something that later will serve us in our own practice", she states.

This hand sculpted terracotta coffee table has a glass top and brass detail. To make this, Vanessa Singenzia put together multiple coils of ceramic material, then merged them to form the base of the coffee table. The brass detail on top is intended to draw people’s attention to the object.

The Ancestors is a limited edition light collection in which each piece embodies a unique goddess-like sculpture meant to be viewed from every angle. The series is the result of a collaboration with weaver Denise Berekméri. Materials that would somehow age over time were used to create a more natural approach to their raw form. Using old techniques such as clay coiling, several cylindrical forms were placed on top of another to create three stand-alone totemic sculptures.
