Sombrerería Medrano represents three generations connected by their love for hats, quality, and master craftsmanship. Since its founding by Bernardino Abial y Roda in 1832, this atelier became a reference point for top hats and bicorns hats, and today for new fashionable models. In the 1920s they specialised in priest's headwear, until 1975, when they introduced a wide array of period hats aimed at cinema and theatrical productions. Artists such as Charlton Heston, Emilio Estevez or the Spanish singer-songwriter Joaquín Sabina are some of their customers. Their pieces can be seen in movies like The Scarlett Letter or Che, and operas like Carmen or The Barber of Seville.

Nowadays, tradition and avant-garde go hand in hand in Sombrerería Medrano. Theirs is the oldest active hat shop in Spain, and they still use centuries-old tools and classic materials to make their creations. They are also committed to innovation and design, with men's and women's collections becoming progressively more daring.
