This sculptural piece, created from a combination of Murano glass and ceramic, explores the dialogue between volume and shape. Two contrasting surfaces are made evident: one is organic and rough, the other one is transparent and shines. The idea is to use two aesthetically different materials but with the same chemical base. Roberta Verteramo wants to express how matter takes shape from the same origin and can be experienced with an organic aspect or with a smooth aspect.

Where art meets design

Roberta Verteramo’s background is both artistic and international: she studied in Turin, Valencia, and Amsterdam, focusing on restoration, conservation and plastic materials. Eventually she established herself as a conservator of contemporary art, with a position at the Triennale Museum in Milan which gave her the opportunity to meet and collaborate with internationally known artists and designers. It was Gaetano Pesce who inspired her to transition from conservation to making, pushing her to experiment with materials and introducing her to the still mostly unknown discipline of Art Design. Today she uses ancient crafting techniques to create ultra-contemporary designs graced by the sense of timelessness of a luxury object.

The light source is not visible. The light coming from above illuminates the space and runs through the perforated cord of the lamp. The lamp is one of a limited series of 25.

This sculptural piece is an expression of minimalism where the only elements used are bronze and glass. The characterising element of the work is the breath used to create it, because it is the breath of the human being. Om is in fact the sound reproduced by man, which represents life and replicates the vibrations of the universe.
