The silver tableware manufacturer Robbe & Berking was founded in 1874 by Nicolaus Christoph Robbe. The beginnings were modest. With almost no financial means, solely relying on their craftsmanship, the silversmith and his son-in-law Robert Berking succeeded in convincing a growing clientele of the quality of their masterpieces. In 1908, Robert Berking, the creative head of this partnership, drowned in the Flensburg Fjord. It seemed as if the promising beginning had now come to an abrupt and untimely end. But a sense of responsibility and family spirit endured and allowed the business to continue. The product selection kept on growing and became one of the most admired in the industry making Robbe & Berking the world's leading manufacturer of silver cutlery.

Every piece is exclusively produced by hand at the Flensburg manufacturer. It is the hand of the artisan alone that determines the shape and decor of the pieces in the collection, not the limited possibilities and rational of mass production. Today, the founder's guiding principle remains unchanged: “Others may be cheaper, but no one can be better than us”. Since 1985, Oliver Berking has been carrying on the tradition of the famous silver manufacturer as the fifth generation.
