Specialised in natural stone, the Pedrantiqua manufacturer is situated in Leiria, a rich limestone area in Portugal. Founded by Luís Silva in 1997, it has been extracting and preparing stone for national and international architectural and construction projects ever since. When José Monteiro joined as a shareholder in 2012, his focus with the team was to continue investing in the latest technology to extract and cut blocks of stone with great precision. The daily objective is to ensure unique outcomes by enhancing the incredible variety, colours, natural quality and beauty of Portuguese stone.

Essenzia was created in 2019, following a concern of what to do with the manufacturer’s scrap marble, a desire to respect this natural matter and perpetuate stone artisanship. On site, designer Samuel dos Santos and artisans Márcio Martins and David Silva work hand in hand to transform leftover marble into contemporary decorative pieces. Presently, a piece can be seen in the Portuguese Prime Minister’s office and Essenzia’s work is already gaining international recognition.
