What was the first object you made?
It was a bicycle saddle, which I refurbished using leather. I remember it was a bit difficult to do, and the end result was not perfect, but I did it and have continued to refine my skills since then.
What do you love most about your profession?
Leatherwork is my place of peace. In the studio I am surrounded by leather pieces so whenever I am alone that is all I do, listen to music and create. The process of making is challenging and time-consuming but I get to see myself. I always fall in love with the product I am making.

What is one thing about your work that people do not normally know?
My bags are entirely hand stitched. I do not use machines but hand-held tools. People are surprised when they get to know this because of the details, the lining, the stitching, and how neat and straight it all is.
Could your craft be considered in danger?
There are a lot of people interested in learning leatherwork, but not many people practise it because it is a complex craft. Some people like part of it but not the whole process. I started teaching in 2019, doing workshops for people interested in learning the craft.
