This sculptural ring was carved by hand to complement and enhance the unusual asymmetric free-formed shape of the 16.5kt cut amethyst. The contrast of the intense purple and the warmth of the brushed yellow gold emphasise the richness of both materials. Burnished edges are used to highlight the carved form and echo the bright cut edge of the bezel setting.

David McCaul trained at the National College of Art and Design, the Design Craft Council of Ireland’s goldsmithing skills course and at London Metropolitan University. Outside of formal study he worked under master craftspeople in Germany and America. He brings these years of experience to McCaul Goldsmiths to create timeless pieces of unquestionable quality. His style is simple and contemporary, with a distinct energy and movement. Both the principles of design and traditional craft skills are at the forefront of his practice. Arris emerald cut tourmaline ring
This distinctive asymmetric ring combines a 2.29 k emerald-cut mint green tourmaline with 18k rose gold. The tourmaline is intentionally set diagonally across the finger and is perfectly balanced by the fluid lines and soft angles of the sculpted rose gold setting. Hand carved in wax before being cast in a subtle rose gold that perfectly complements the unique green hue of the tourmaline.

Hand forged diamond set ring
The deep circular curve of this cocktail ring is created using century’s old hand forging techniques. The playful tapering and looping form of this 18ct rose gold cocktail ring has been designed to fit perfectly on the hand. The shape is accentuated by a line set round brilliant cut diamonds which taper to follow the curve. Combining ancient forging and modern microscope setting techniques within one unique ring.

Paraiba tourmaline drop earrings
Traditional hand forging is used to create the tapered form of these rose gold Paraiba tourmaline drop earrings, which although delicate in appearance are exceptionally strong while keeping a lightness. Designed with movement in mind the pear shape of the Paraiba tourmalines is echoed in the graceful form.

Tourmaline cocktail ring
An ‘Arris’ cocktail ring, hand carved in wax before being cast in 18k yellow gold, organic carved details are combined with the geometric shape and cut of three baguette cut tourmalines. Each of the gemstones is skilfully set within a yellow gold bezel. A striking and contemporary take on the traditional three-stone ring. The warmth of the satin finished yellow gold is used to complement the green and pink of the tourmalines.
