The robotic sequence of interlocking silver tubes: small, medium, large - move around the neck creating a soft rhythm.

Mara Irsara likes to quote her countryman, Italo Calvino: “Fantasy is like jam, it has to be spread on a solid slice of bread.” She is convinced she started spreading that jam already in the cradle. First came architecture, then jewellery came along. Now it is the combination of the two, feeding one another. Mara Irsara’s work is based on primordial forms - circles, squares and triangles being at the core. However, there is no strategy, she says, just a continuous stimulation through vast, even random collections of influences. She lets them spin and thrill and grow in a dialogue between rational and irrational. Also an essential part of her work is colour which she adds with various techniques, like flocking. She studied under renowned master artisans, Simone ten Hompel, Giovanni Corvaja and Stefano Marchetti.

This sculptural bracelet sits bold on the arm and encloses it with its square components. When closed it also sits up like a small sculpture. The surprise element is known only to the owner: an electric blue flocked surface on the underside of the two domes. When working on the piece someone looked over Mara’s shoulders and exclaimed – this looks like a bra! And there it is, the Bra-celet.

The pizza bracelet starts off with a perfect circle. The silver slices have been cut from an off-set centre and connected with long hinges. It is wearable on two sides: all silver (pizza base) or electric blue (topping). The menu offers a selection of seasonal toppings.

A tube is cut into three parts and pierced through an extension of the ring like a skewer. The angular cuts of the gold plated silver tubes make the different parts roll around it, looking straight but misbehaving.
