Fernando Sangiovanni, Isabel Lorenzo and their son Joaquín create sustainable and timeless wooden pieces and tableware for haute cuisine and the home. They emigrated from Uruguay to Spain in 2002. As Isabel was of Galician origin, they settled in Santiago de Compostela and began working in their atelier in 2015. Fernando, a visual artist, had the idea of creating a family business one day when he lost his work. He was joined by Joaquín, who had completed a carpentry course, and Isabel with her previous experience in business administration. All of them committed to the values of collective work: mutual help, responsibility, democracy, and solidarity.
The pieces they produce are both artistic and functional and stand out for being different, each with their own personality. The traditional way in which Fernando and Joaquín treat wood and the natural environment that surrounds them in Galicia marks and nurtures their work. In recent years, Lorenzo Design has expanded with the help of other workers to create more functional pieces for renowned restaurants in other European countries.
