A unique sculptural language

Kirsten Hermansson is a trained glassblower from Norway. Kirsten studied at the National Glass School in Orrefors and later at The Academy of Arts Architecture and Design in the Czech Republic where she trained in the Glass studio of Rony Plesl. She then followed a bachelor's at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Schools, Design School in Bornholm. She is now co-owner of the studio and shop Formbar Glassverksted in Haugesund, Norway. “I work systematically when creating my art and I like to work with composition, tight shapes while blending different techniques in order to create a holistic impression. I truly believe in creating art with my own hands, paying attention to the importance of details in regards to the whole,” Kirsten says of her creative process.

Milovat

A light fixture with a brown glass frame with a wooden base. The unique lighting object is inspired by the forms and shapes along the Norwegian coastline, such as lighthouses and the detailed roughness of nature.

Drain

The glass sculpture shows a human mouth cast in white opaline that drips over the lips. It symbolizes a human questioning how we navigate and communicate the world around us. Whether melting or overflowing they speak of an excess of emotion.

Karmöy

This tableware made of black glass with markings of sea creatures like star fish and shells. The objects reflect the life of the ocean served on a plate - inspired by the artist’s love for seafood, the sea and everything that grows and thrives in it.

Klondike

An optical glass lens with a swirl of 24 karat gold, the object symbolizes the search for something bigger and better. Named Klondike, it shines in hope of a brighter and more prosperous future.

Twisted Regalia

Twisted Regalia is an art object made from sculpted hot and cut glass in clear and brown glass. It’s reminiscent of royal jewels symbolizing power and immortality. Twisted Regalia is inspired by the modern monarchy, where the dignity and seclusion associated with the role must exist.
