Aerodynamics and modernity in cabinetry

  • • Julien principally uses wood, but also carbon fibre at times
  • • His furniture pieces are expressions of his imagination
  • • He combines traditional know how with modern materials

"I design my pieces like paintings. They are made to embellish a place and tell a story." Julien Lachaud’s works are the result of his imagination. He also works on commission, enjoying the balance of freedom and constraint that it brings. His is an artistic universe that combines solid traditional know how in cabinetry with the innovation of new materials, light and futuristic. Julien works with elements that are not usually seen in cabinetry. The results are unique, dynamic and modern furniture pieces and furnishings. Passionate about sport, speed and cars, Julien conveys these interests in the pieces that he crafts, and his creations seem to embody movement despite being solid and static.

Opposing Worlds cabinet

This cabinet was created in collaboration with Bims, an outdoor street artist. Four drawers and two shelves in carbon fibre make up this cabinet made from waved sycamore, and solid Gabon ebony for the black parts. The base is made of rust steel.

Sunflower of the Islands table

Sunflowers were the inspiration for this creation. In order to highlight the palm wood, Julien Lachaud inlaid sycamore nets that intersect and placed in the centre a plate of green naoussa marble. The legs were made in collaboration with an artistic iron worker.
