Colourful textiles with texture

  • • Inés designs textiles that combine tradition and innovation
  • • She focuses on tapestry-like texture and volume
  • • The value of well-made is very important to her

From a tiny rural village in Galicia, Inés Rodríguez weaves by hand with tireless passion and ingenuity. Her approach to textiles is nurtured both by research on innovative materials and an artistic eye, combining the craft with elements handpicked from other disciplines such as design, architecture and painting. She designs and executes, working mainly on her own, choosing colours and dyeing threads, making only one piece per style. Inés collects old tools and textiles and likes to listen and learn from weavers of the past, keepers of memories. The extensive knowledge of traditional Spanish and Galician techniques such as rosepath and block designs among others and her collaborations with the fashion industry, make her work and research unique.

The Water Path - Morno Collection

Part of the Morno Collection, The Water Path is an artistic and pictorial fabric inspired by the path of water and its forms, clouds, drops. It is woven with an old Galician hand weaving textile technique, that the old rural women used for their wedding blankets; the gorullo. In this case the loops are made with the hands one by one as if it were a tapestry. This gives volume and a great texture that invites touch.

Little Red Fires blanket

This soft blanket forms part of a collection inspired by Eduardo Galeano’s short story "A sea of fires”. With the blankets, Inés wants to express the tale’s main idea, which is that each one of us is different and shines with their own light. It was made using the Galician gorullo technique. Each side is different and adorned with little hearts.
