Crafting with a love of technology

  • • Hans is a versatile furniture maker
  • • He innovates by pushing technical boundaries
  • • Surprise is important to his aesthetic

Problem-solving and innovation are key words in the design ethic of furniture maker Hans Endendijk. Born into a family of designers, artists and art lovers, Hans had the genetic blueprint for becoming a designer and maker. Raised with the idea that everything can be understood by dismantling and reassembling objects and machines, the way was paved for him to become a furniture maker. Hans was apprenticed to a master for three years, and produced furniture for luxury interiors, including for a private yacht. The first piece he made was a coffee table with curved shapes brought together with coloured wood glue. Hans is well-known for using wood, metal, synthetic materials, electronics, digital imaging, photography, and 3D printing techniques.

SHE Paperclip chair and IT table

Signature pieces in Hans Endendijk's work , this flexible chair and side table are made from solid wooden beams, and shaped as though they were made from a single ribbon of wood. All the parts are stringed, like pearls on a necklace, in a predefined shape and this creates a very comfortable seat with a suspended back.

This heavy design is made from 14 beautiful solid apple wood drawers opening on all sides, with an acrylic stone desktop. The grain of the wood is harmonised throughout the piece.

Jewellery cabinet

The shape of this cabinet is inspired by red quartz crystal, with its high gloss lacquering. The cabinet consists of 14, fully extendable, push-to-open drawers. The upper compartment consists of a small box with hatch and mirror. It is set on four marble stone legs.
