In Munich's Schwindstraße, the Werkstätten Gustav van Treeck can still be found today, where they were founded by Gustav van Treeck in 1887. The team of art glaziers, glass painters, mosaicists, designers and restorers carry out glass painting, window design and mosaics for public institutions and private clients. Since 2015, the manufacturer has been run by Raphaela Knein and Katja Zukic, who initiated the launch of the product design line, edition van Treeck. The objects of the new design line are created in collaboration with internationally renowned designers such as Sebastian Herkner, david&nicolas, or Sabine Marcelis.
The excellence in craftsmanship is also valued by artists such as Gerhard Richter, who recently collaborated with the esteemed manufacturer to realise a set of church windows. The elaborate concept of the contemporary artist was executed with outstanding expertise, using rare techniques such as etched paintings made on hand blown flashed glass. The result of the collaboration can be admired in the monastery church of St. Mauritius in Tholey.
