Culinary delights

  • • Gabi and Alex create custom ceramic tableware
  • • They left Brazil to start a new life in Portugal
  • • Studioneves supplies ceramics to top chefs

Gabi and Alex met working crazy hours in an advertising firm in Brazil. Searching for a more meaningful life, they moved to Barcelona to study. The discovery of Catalan culture, nouvelle cuisine and a ceramics course opened the way. Back in Brazil, they opened their studio and realised, after an order for 200 plates from a caterer, that they could merge their passion for design, ceramics and gastronomy by creating tableware for chefs. Business boomed but in 2018 the couple, now with young children, moved to Portugal leaving behind their success but not their skills and passion. They opened Studio Neves and work with European restaurants listed in the World’s 50 best. Soon the creative couple will launch their signature tableware for end consumers.

Ruins of the Classic

This porcelain plate is a statement piece commissioned by a prestigious restaurant in Girona, Spain. The design was born following a meeting with a French chef, who called Sudioneves “cavemen” for making rustic pottery and not finely adorned porcelain plates. With this piece, the classic collapses and the contemporary arises.

Precious Coast

The restaurant who commissioned this elegant set of plates is located in Menton, on the Cote d'Azur of France, right on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea. The design was inspired by the cut-outs of the precious coast.

Deep Tribal

Deep Tribal was commissioned by an Amazonian, high-end contemporary restaurant. The design had to be fancy and indigenous at the same time. The porcelain plate was adorned with handmade carvings.

Juta Plate

The Juta Plate was created for a prestigious Brazilian restaurant in São Paulo. It was designed especially for an outstanding dish with a coffee reduction, which inspired Studioneves to use Juta bag as a mould. Juta is the traditional material the coffee beans bags are made from in Brazilian markets.

Jaapi with small holes

This set of plates was designed for a classic restaurant in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The edges were pierced with hundreds of small holes to play with the strong lighting of the restaurant and create subtle shadows over the table.
