Fonderia Artistica Battaglia was founded in 1913 in Milan as a lost wax artistic bronze foundry. Battaglia has collaborated and continues to work with the greatest names of the Italian and international art scene. Collaborators include: Francesco Arena, Giorgio Andreotta Calò, Velasco Vitali, Rochelle Goldberg, Veit Laurent Kurz, Marguerite Humeau, and Peter Waechtler. Battaglia also acts as a cultural institution, teaching artists and designers, as well as promoting art and design developments.
With Open Studio, Battaglia involves young artists and designers by creating with them their first bronze sculpture, teaching them the technique; with the Battaglia Foundry Sculpture Prize it selects and awards artists chosen by a panel of international professionals active in the contemporary art scene. Battaglia established in 2010 a Restoration Department, to study and solve all the complex matters related to ancient, modern and contemporary bronze sculpture conservation.
