Founded in 1798 by the Boch Family, Manufacture Emaux de Longwy is famous for its influence on the industry of ceramics, it has been an earthenware reference ever since. First known as the earthenware factory of Longwy, it rose to fame when the Emperor Napoleon I asked them to create the dinner service for the Imperial Houses of the Legion of Honour. Around 1870, the manufacturer collaborated with famous ceramicist Amédée de Caranza who had the innovative idea of using Japanese and Chinese metallic enamels.

The manufacturer holds the exclusive right in France to produce “cloisonné” enamels on earthenware. To this day, all pieces fabricated by Emaux de Longwy bear the historical stamp and are accompanied by a certificate of origin. In 2015, the manufacturer joined the Emblem group, giving them a wider audience notably through the Emblem showroom located in Paris.
