How did you get involved with ceramics?
I learnt ceramics at school, but then I studied building engineering in Sweden, where I also worked as a ceramic trainer at an educational centre. This was when I realised how much I loved it. When I moved back to Cyprus in 1991, I gave up engineering and I opened my ceramic studio.
What defines your ceramic art?
I am specialised in Cyprus' medieval glazed pottery and primitive firing techniques. I also work with stoneware in fine edge forms using my own glazes and slips. I am inspired by Cyprus' culture and history, especially the Cyprus Bronze Age pottery and, of course, the nature.

Has your artwork been exhibited widely?
Yes, I have participated in exhibitions in Cyprus, Greece, France, Italy, Malta, and Sweden. I also represented Cyprus at ceramics festivals in France, Italy and Slovakia. In 2000, I represented Cyprus in the International Design Biennale of Saint-Etienne.
How hard is it to keep your craft alive?
Well, as a profession it cannot secure a safe income, particularly in a small place like Cyprus. More support from the authorities is required. The reason it is alive is the love from the people who choose to pursue this way of living.
