This Orthodox icon is made using woodcut techniques with a very shallow relief of 2 mm on the details of life and up to 4 mm on the image of the Saint. The work has gilded details made with 24 carat gold leaf.
Growing up in the small town of Predejane in the south of Serbia, Dejan Milenković has been surrounded by forests all his life. His father and grand-father were carpenters. It was quite natural for him to start working with wood. Dejan's carvings are highly appreciated in Serbia and abroad due to their exceptional quality and detail. He developed his unique style, inspired by Serbian folklore, history, and Orthodox faith. He works with a variety of woods, including cherry, walnut and pear, and often incorporates intricate designs and motifs into his pieces. Since 2014, he is a member of the Association of Professional Artists of Russia.
