When centuries-old traditions meet Avant-Garde technology, the results are special. Dedalica workshop was first established by Matteo Calamai and Daniel Ricceri in 2019 to create high-end audio speakers handcrafted from terracotta with the very same techniques used by Brunelleschi to build the cupola of the Duomo in Florence, but paired with modern electronics and contemporary design. Both structure and technology are produced in Dedalica’s lab and workshop in the heart of Tuscany.
Master artisans Sergio and Daniel Ricceri of the historic Ricceri kiln in Impruneta shape the clay into spherical moulds, make it naturally dry, finish the balls on the lathe and bake them in the oven at more than 1000°C. Expert blacksmiths deal with metal parts, used both to internally support the terracotta structure and to decorate and finish its exterior. As for the sound, it combines the latest technology with terracotta’s acoustic capacity, in a perfect marriage of past and present.
