Neo-organic object design

  • • Cezar typically crafts fluid forms and smooth lines
  • • His wife, an artist and jewellery designer, has influenced his creative style
  • • Wooden jewellery items were among his first pieces of work

With a degree in philosophy, Cezar Blînda started exploring woodworking in 2015. He taught himself the craft through experimentation, and after much research and attempts to define his style, he now creates functional and sculptural objects for the home. His wife, Manuela Marchiș, is the one who instilled in him the idea of making such pieces in a neo-organic style, playing an extremely important role in his evolution as a craftsman. After a few years of creating works separately, the two joined their artistic vision in 2020 at LUN Studio, and subsequently opened an art space for exhibitions and workshops in woodworking, painting and papermaking in their village. In his work, Cezar uses the Japanese shou sugi ban technique of wood burning, which he has adapted to his objects to highlight the beauty of simplicity and contrast.

BURG lamp

The BURG lamp is part of a series designed to create a convivial atmosphere. Sculpturally made of oak wood, its construction is designed in such a way that it can hold both the electrical components and the lampshade. The lampshade is made of handmade paper and shows plants and flowers.

Coffee cups

The coffee cups are each hand carved from a single piece of oak wood. They are black, due to the fact that they are fired and treated only with linseed oil. From this point of view, they are difficult to make and only a limited number of them end up being functional.

CALĂ

CALĂ is an oak wood sculpture consisting of two pieces that together create a dynamic effect. The smaller piece is actually a holder for pens and business cards or a small flower vase; and the large piece, inspired by the calla flower, can hold small things specific to the office.

LIRA vase

Due to its shape, this vase is associated with the musical instrument, the lyre. The main body is carved from burnt linden wood, which includes on one side an abrupt edge, and on the other side an organic, calm one. The two extremities are balanced by the central body, turned from a noble wood, in this case mahogany, which is left in its natural colour. It also has a niche for a handmade glass container in which both fresh and dried flowers can be placed.

PEDRO the bird

PEDRO is a wooden bird that sits in a well-defined point of balance, only on the edges of objects and furniture. Wherever he sits, everything around him suddenly makes sense. Pedro is a story in itself, he is a character born from the desire to discover the life around us, to pay attention to the details of what surrounds us.
