The Atelier Mériguet-Carrère, founded in 1960 in the Marais district of Paris by Paul Mériguet, is one of the most prestigious heirs to the grand tradition of the French decorative arts. Their artisans are able to master the restoration of centuries-old décors as well as the production of the most ambitious and audacious contemporary creations, and their know-how covers a wide variety of crafts: painting and decorative painting, restoration and preservation of painted décor, gilding and – a recognised specialty of the Atelier – embossing leathers.
Since its creation, the Atelier Mériguet-Carrère enjoyed the trust and loyalty of extremely demanding clients such as Pierre Bergé and Yves-Saint Laurent for their residences. Their list of public and private references is impressive, ranging from the official residences of the French President and Prime Minister – the Élysée Palace and the Hôtel Matignon – to the Chateaux of Versailles, and from the Opera Garnier to the Hotel de Crillon in Paris.
