The parisian upholsterer

  • • Anaïs discovered upholstery at the age of 13
  • • She works for interior architects, decorators and collectors
  • • She established her own workshop in 2017

With unique traditional savoir-faire, Anaïs Jarnoux exercises the profession of upholsterer in its most contemporary form. Based in Paris, she plays with the diversity of her craft to anchor it in today’s society. Anaïs gained considerable experience working for 14 years at the prestigious Maison Brazet, an historic upholsterer’s workshop renowned for the excellence of its true French heritage. From furniture restoration to contemporary design, upholstery sewing to cladding, Anaïs challenges her many skills in each of her projects. By mixing techniques and materials, she keeps on adapting her expertise to find new design solutions. The encounters and collaborations with other crafts are fundamental to her work.

Office Chair Steelcase-Stafor, 1970s

Anais Jarnoux restored this steelcase-stafor office chair from the 1970s. With hairlock filling, foam made from animal hair and natural latex, and upholstered with Kvadrat fabric that she quilted herself, this chair has been brought back to its original beauty.

1950s American sofa

This 1950s American sofa was restored by Anais Jarnoux with hairlock filling, foam made from animal hair and natural latex, and upholstered with Casamance and Sahco fabrics. The blue fabric maintains a vintage touch.

Onde Noire, 1950s armchair Parker-Knoll

Anais Jarnoux restored this 1950s Parker-Knoll armchair entitled Onde Noire with a contemporary use of traditional techniques and hairlock filling which is made from animal hair and natural latex. This project was done in collaboration with the textile designer Charlotte Kaufmann who created and wove the fabric in white, grey and black tones.

1960s High Back Lounge chairs, Adrian Pearsall – edition Karpen

The 1960s High Back Lounge chairs by Adrian Pearsall – edition Karpen were restored with foam filling and upholstered with Bisson Bruneel fabric by Anais Jarnoux.
