Bertoni's story began in 1949 when Riccardo Bertoni founded the Valigeria Bertoni, which produced handmade leather travel articles, such as suitcases, classic suitcases, american trunks and wardrobe trunks. Alberto Bertoni walks today, along with his family, the road indicated by his father Riccardo, introducing new ideas and technologies in the creation of handbags and handcrafted accessories. Bertoni’s primary business today is to create products commissioned by others, but at the same time there’s also a the brand's own collection.
Bertoni 1949 uses four main leathers for the production of its bags, suitcases and accessories: one is goatskin, treated with a natural tan to make it look light and refined. Then alligator, a very noble and luxurious material. Thirdly, there is French calfskin, treated with a rich tan that makes it soft and full. Fourthly, there is wood leather, a calf leather so defined because it is subjected to a special processing that produces a wood-like effect.
