Sometimes a personal need is the best motivation, as the story of Kirstin Hennemman illustrates. “I was walking the streets of Frankfurt searching for beautiful shoes for oddly shaped feet, but I couldn’t find any,” she says. In 2013 Gabriele Braun left a successful career in business to join Kirstin as an apprentice, following in the footsteps of her father and fulfiling her passion for shoes. Three years later, the former master and apprentice became equal partners, working together in their Berlin workshop to create unique footwear.
