Shining a light on a disappearing skill

  • • Anna makes lampshades by hand
  • • She has a dark room for testing the lamps
  • • Some lampshades require 3-4,000 stitches

Anna's first lampshade took her two months to complete, on her kitchen table. Inspired by the pleated traditional costumes of the Bregenzerwald, it caught the eye of a hotel owner from the region. Realising the demand for this disappearing skill, she started to sell lamps from the boot of her car, then set up her workshop and retail space in 2014. Here she welcomes clients as sensitive and passionate about the spatial and emotional significance of light as she is. Beyond the quality of light, each shade has a story. She also revives the appreciation and savoir-faire of lampshade making through collaborations with artists and designers

Bivius floor lamp

The Bivius floor lamp produces direct light for reading as well as ambient lighting. Elegant and minimal in design, it is discreet and intended to suit any interior. The design for the handmade lampshade, which combines black plissé fabric and blue ribbon, was inspired by women’s costumes from the Bregenz Forest in Austria.

Brera table lamp

Designed by Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez for Strolz, the Brera table lamp is an elegant association of beige vellum / linen and a handmade lacquered base, which is also available in brass or walnut. The natural characteristics of the vellum have been left intact, enhancing the atmosphere created by the light.

Botanical table lamp

This botanical series was designed by Susanne Thun for Strolz. To create the lampshade, Anna pressed leaves and grasses between two sheets of parchment paper, which cast intriguing shadows when the lamp is switched on. The shade is fitted to a discreet brass base that is suitable for many interiors.

Height 70 cm
Diameter 35 cm
