A humanistic approach to design training

School of Form was established in 2011, as part of the SWPS University, to train future designers. Based in Warsaw since 2020, School of Form’s founding philosophy is that good design cannot exist without the humanistic element, as such they tailor their courses to prioritise its central role. Its location on the University’s campus means access to scientific and research facilities as well as business partners offering internships. The School fosters team work as well as individuality, cultivating original thought, concepts and business solutions. The unique curriculum was developed by a team of experts led by Lidewij Edelkoort, the long-time head of Design Academy Eindhoven, who is the strategic director and mentor of the School of Form. Students go on to set up their own design studios or join existing ones, some become School of Form lecturers, others continue their education at foreign design schools.
